What's amazing about Japan bullet train; Bathroom, In-car catering and Smoke room available

Previously I have written the article All you need to know about Japan rail pass ticket and that was to explain about the price and the system of the ticket itself.

This time, I'm going to focus on the facility of the Japanese Bullet Train Shinkansen.

Let's jump into it.

Amazing Japanese Bullet Train

The Japanese Bullet Train Shinkansen is just amazing.

Why?

When you are on the train, most of the time it's very steady and you feel no shaking.

Written in the article Is bullet train in Japan safe? Was there any significant crash accident ever? it has never made a significant accident.

Also inside the car, you can experience wonderful Japanese quality.

Those are...

  • Clean Bathroom
  • Smoking room
  • In Cabin Catering

Bathroom available in Bullet Train

The bullet train in Japan is absolute with the bathrooms.

The bullet train in Japan consists of 16 cars, and two bathrooms are located every 2 cars.

In Japan, it is common to see three types of bathrooms; male-only, female-only, and multipurpose toilets (for everyone).

Smoking Room available in Bullet Train

If you are a heavy smoker who needs to smoke constantly, don't worry about it.

There is a smoking room available on the bullet train.

(Some like short distance one may not have it)

The smoking room is in car numbers 3, 7, 10, and 15 if you are on Nozomi, or Hikari (the major ones).

Here I would like to highlight that you cannot smoke when you are seated.

In Cabin Catering

In-cabin catering is available on the bullet train as well.

The staff is actually walking through the whole 16 cars all the time, so if you get on from Tokyo station and head to Osaka station, you would probably see them two or three times.

If you had no time to buy water, coffee, or sandwiches before getting on the bullet train, you don't have to worry about it.

What I want to highlight here is that what they sell is rich in variety.

What comes up to my mind right now is...

  • Bottled water
  • Juice
  • coffee
  • sandwiches
  • lunchbox
  • alcohol (including Japanese beer)
  • snacks (including ice cream)

You can eat ice cream on the bullet train.

Isn't it so amazing???

I hope I made you look forward to experiencing the Japanese bullet train when you come to Japan.

Please leave a comment if you have any questions about this topic.

Cheers to you all and I hope you all have a safe trip.
