The best vegan ramen restaurant in Kyoto "UZU"

Are you staying in Kyoto today?

Then, I do have my strong recommendation.

It's "UZU", the vegan ramen restaurant located in Kyoto.

Vegan Ramen Restaurant in Kyoto

A few months ago, I went to UZU with my partner.

To be honest, it is kind of difficult to find authentic Japanese cuisine which is also fully vegan.

I was literally crawling on the Internet craving for an outstanding vegan restaurant and I found UZU.

What's special about UZU

So, I think there are 2 reasons why stands UZU out as one of the must-visit Japanese restaurants; it's fully vegan, and it's on MICHELIN Guide.

1. Fully vegan Japanese Ramen; Rare to find

First of all, it is very difficult to find fully vegan restaurants in Japan.

Nowadays, the number of vegan restaurants is growing but still, you will need the research before coming here.

UZU is one of the interesting vegan restaurants in Japan since Ramen is usually made from Ton-Kotsu (pork belly and bones).

However, UZU uses Japanese mushrooms and veggies as the main ingredients of the soup.

The soup used in all of the ramen dishes is made by thoroughly steeping a combination of Rausu kelp, Japanese shiitake mushrooms, and vegetables, in water for 12 hours.

For a Japanese, it sounds super-difficult challenge to make delicious Ramen without any type of meat, especially pork.

But they just did it.

I do recommend you to visit UZU and make your lunch/dinner a surprising experience.

Throughout the day, the price stays the same and there is no seat charge.

There is always a seasonal selection (not on the menu) so you can have it or stick to their original menu.

2. It was on MICHELIN Guide

The ingredients, the dish, the chef, it's all just authentic.

MICHELIN Kyoto Osaka + Wakayama 2022 has selected them to be on MICHELIN Guide, and this also tells that their quality of theirs is true.

Actually, when we had our dinner for the first time at UZU, we completely did not know UZU was on MICHELIN.

There was a MICHELIN trophy in the toilet and I knew why their Ramen was truly mouth-watering.
